Here is an example from “The Light Between Two Towers” film documentary that has used a historical 2 dimensional photo and made it 3 dimensional! The technique involves using Adobe After Effects and Adobe Photoshop software tools.
You need to restore the original 3 dimensional perspective by editing the photo. These cut up perspective elements are then mapped onto a 3 dimensional surface. Using Adobe After Effects you position a camera and cause it to float in the new 3 dimensional space you created.
The final product fly through gives you the strong felling of walking through the space as if you were actually there. There are many more examples in the documentary “The Light Between Two Towers”.
